Multicase!

No! Multicase! KR Multicase! I just ordered one from the website. Nothing fancy, just a tough cardboard box to keep my Warmachine army cheerfully encased in foam. I am pleased. Pics follow.

We'll start off with the important bit: How big is it compared to a Citadel Figure Case?

GW: Length - 34cm, Width - 40cm, Height - 13cm

KR: Length - 27cm, Width - 40cm, Height - 12cm

Just a bit less bulky than the GW case. If you're one of those lucky people with one of those backpacks GW used to sell, KR card cases will fit quite well inside and leave a little room for other gaming bits and bobs. Here's how it looks:

I'm not sure if you can see it from the earlier pic, but since the KR case is just tough card, that leaves more volume for the foam and it's a little wider. Now, a closer look inside:

This particular set comprises 2 small trays each fitting 18 troops and 2 deep pick n' pluck trays for Heavy and Light Warjacks. The compartments for the troop trays are a bit wider than GW standard, and will easily fit 30mm bases with a little space to spare. GW's case, in contrast, was never made for 30 mm bases, which fit only with a little push.

L: KR foam tray, R: GW foam tray

The foam trays are all designed to fit the default Card Case, which in turn is designed to fit inside other, more robust bags and carriers in KR's catalogue. The sheer variety of foam trays impressed my greatly. They've got a foam tray that fits a Stormraven, 12 troops and a Dreadnought in one of the Card Cases! Hell, yes! This was quite a big selling point for me. The KR Card Case is quite a convenient size, and 2 of them will easily fit any 1750 pt army I can come up with, with a little room to spare for about, say, 250 to 500 or so pts worth of mini to tweak a list and keep life interesting. In the long run I could have all my armies in card cases, sitting happily organized on a shelf and waiting for me to just pick 2 cases, pop them in my back pack and go forth for gaming.

A quick word on price, now. GW's Figure Case currently weighs in at GBP36 and contains 3 trays each with 36 compartments, holding a total of 108 troops. KR will hold the same number of troops with bigger compartments for GBP23, with FREE SHIPPING, EVEN TO MALAYSIA. Of course, cardboard, no matter how tough, won't measure up to having that nice plastic case with the lovely Imperial Aquila all over the front. The thing is, I don't just want to hold 108 troops! I have Rhinos, spikey Rhinos, a Defiler, Land Raiders, Ghost Arks, Annihilation Barges, Land Speeders, Razorbacks, Dreadnoughts and a huge pile of Leman Russes and Chimeras and what-have-you, which could all do with a nice home in foam.

To cut a long story short, I am very pleased with the KR Card Case, and as such, have ordered another 2 which will house my CM League winning Double Deathstar and all my Blood Angel jump troops. If you're the kind of gamer who could be bothered to spend hours painting your armies and doesn't want to feel the little heartbreak of seeing your minis chipped, scratched or bent in transit, I totally recommend KR Multicase.

Happy gaming, y'all...
