Have you got a war face? AAAAAARRRGGGHHH!!! THAT's a war face!!!

Just felt inspired to put together a squad of Catachan Veterans led by Gunnery Sgt Harker, so I picked up a Scout Squad and some Catachans and a few more Scout weapons off e-Bay. Here's my take on Harker:

Bandana? Check. Shades? Check. Unfeasibly large gun? Check...

Yeah, that's the Heavy Bolter from the Space Marine Scouts box. I'd only noticed recently that there were no sleeves on it like with the other scout arms, so I did a little kitbashing. I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out.The Scout arms were made for a slightly wider body than a Catachan's so I filled in the gap with a little bit of sprue, which I then filed down until I had the right shape.

Also, I figured since Harker's hard enough to be S4 in close combat, I slapped a sheathed Scout combat blade onto his back. I think it looks suitably badass for a Catachan.

I'm also stripping the Scout sprues of their shotguns, and using them for my Veteran Squad. Still not sure what I shoult have as the loadout for my 3 special weapons. Anti-tank shooty with meltas? Or anti-infantry with flamers?

As for the Scouts, they're most certainly not going to waste. I'll be look to try out a small squad of combat scouts. At 100pts, that's a 5-man squad, including a Sgt with a powerfist.

100pts for an outflanking powerfist? Sounds interesting enough to me... More pics to follow as these wee devils get painted...

  1. What up with the space marine shoulder pad on Harker?

    1. Came as part of the marine Scout heavy bolter arm. I didn't bother filing it off, as I figured it would be a good place to freehand some cool emblem or other. Also it covers up the ugliness of the joint where I inserted some plastic sprue.

  2. Makes great story about how the old hard core Harker arm wrestled a space marine scout and won the shoulder pad over.

  3. I say give melta to your veterans. Since they are firing at BS4, it be a waste of their precious BS4 if you get them flamer.

Flamer are for regular guardsmen who cant even shoot to save their life.

    1. No, melta guns are actually bad idea IMO, you simply made them 1 shot unit

    2. I asked YH and he recommends having him and his squad with shotguns and 3 grenade launchers in an outflanking Chimera. Sounds like a decent use for 195 pts to me...

    3. Tats how I ran my Harker, he was always a pain in the ass for my opponent, and did quite a number on red's predators when they outflanked and shot at exposed side armor while staying at a nice distance away
