So, I clapped eyes upon the useful bits of the Farsight Enclaves supplement. You know, the army bits, because who gives a toss about Farsight's fluff, eh? And here's my idea for a Tau list...
Commander with C & C Node, Puretide Engram Chip, Multi-spectrum sensor suite and drone controller (I call this the 'Oracle' suit for short)
3 Crisis Suits with 2 missile pods each, one with a drone controller, 3 marker drones and bonding knife ritual
3 Crisis Suits with 2 missile pods each, one with a drone controller, 3 marker drones and bonding knife ritual
3 Crisis Suits with 2 fusion blasters each, one with a drone controller, 3 marker drones and bonding knife ritual
3 Crisis Suits with 2 plasma rifles each, one with a drone controller, 3 marker drones and bonding knife ritual
3 Crisis Suits with 2 plasma rifles each, one with a drone controller, 3 marker drones and bonding knife ritual
2 Broadsides, each with twin-linked high-yield missile pods, twin-linked smart missile system, velocity trackers, 3 shield drones and bonding knife ritual
2 Broadsides, each with twin-linked high-yield missile pods twin-linked smart missile system, velocity trackers, 3 shield drones and bonding knife ritual
2 Broadsides, each with twin-linked high-yield missile pods, twin-linked smart missile system, one target lock, 3 shield drones and bonding knife ritual
Once again, a highly elite army with massive amounts of firepower. This list is as yet untested, and seeing as the models required are about GBP 430, going by GW's price, I think I'm going to test this out with proxies first. Alternatively, I couldn't help but notice these are about the right size to go on a 40mm base...
Totally looks like paired plasma rifles to me... |
Now THAT is a what twin-linked high yield missile pods ought to look like... |
The concept is simple enough: Big guns and a steady stream of marker lights, with the Oracle suit flitting about to where he's needed. The only problems I see with this list:
1. Very few bodies. Well duh. The idea is to hit the enemy really hard and flit away on jet packs. The drones also function as an ablative shield.
2. Vulnerable to AV14 spam. I've only 1 team of Fusion blasters. Is it enough for today's meta?
3. Markerlight redundancy. Lights are cool and all, but it's a bit of a waste when a unit is destroyed, and I've still got markerlights to fire, isn't it?
Anyway, this is a project for much, MUCH later. Maybe next year. Right now, I've got a whole bunch of other projects lined up on the workbench, not least of which is making my dear Blood Angels playable again...
Well Chibi Gundam is definitely a high degree of originality that assure.
